Setting up Password Self Service
- The first time you log into your Roehampton account, you will be asked to provide your security information
- This information will then be used as your verification options for Password Self Service.
- You will then be able to use Password Self Service:https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/ to change/reset your password or unlock your account.


- We strongly recommend that you set up more than one verification option so if your Authenticator App stops working you have a back-up.
- Select: Set up a different way to sign in
- Phone: the system will send a code to your mobile phone (call or text)
- Email and Security questions can only be used for Password Self Service not as options for MFA

- Students you will need to use your verification options when you use Password Self Service
- Staff your verification options will be used for Password Self Service as well as MFA (Multi Factor Authentication)
- Please note that MFA is currently only compulsory for University Staff
Using Password Self Service
If you reset your password, using Password Self Service, and find that your new password does not work immediately please wait for at least 15 minutes before you try your new password again. It can take time for all our systems to fully synchronize and if you try to use your new password before this has finished your may lock your account out. If after 15 minutes your new password is still not working please Contact Us (see below)
Password Criteria
Your password is case sensitive, and must conform to the minimum University password criteria:
Your password must be at least 8 characters long (to a maximum length of 256 characters)
It must contain:
Upper case letters: A through Z
Lower case letters: a through z
Numbers: 0 to 9
You cannot re-use any prior password.
You cannot use any part of your name or your username in your password.
I've forgotten my password
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset your password using Password Self Service
https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/
I am locked out of my account
You can unlocked your account immediately using Password Self Service: https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/.
Choose I know my password, but still can't sign in.
'Locked' accounts are automatically unlocked by the system after approx.30 minutes - please note this time can vary.
My password is working but I'd like to change it
If you would like to change your existing password, please use this link

I receive an error message
If when you log into Password Self Service https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/. you receive an error message: Get back into into your Account - We're sorry... Log into your University account and see if you receive the prompt to provide your security information (Let Us keep your account secure). Once you provide this information you will be automatically registered for Password Self Service.

If you are unable to register for Password Self Service please contact the ServiceDesk - who will be able to reset your password. See Contact Us below
