All staff and student action: Register for password self-service
about 2 months ago
Please note: If
you haven't registered for password self-service by early September 2019, you
will be unable to log into your account before you do so. To avoid any
inconvenience, please register as soon as possible.
Following a series of phishing
attacks, all staff and students are required to register for password self-service. This allows you to
change your password at your own convenience, if you have forgotten your
password or you are locked out of your account.
To register you will need your Roehampton email address
and a working password. Changing your password regularly is one of the most
effective ways to protect your intellectual property and other sensitive data
stored on your computer.
5 tips for keeping your account safe:
Do not share your password with anyone
for any reason – not even for the purpose of a computer repair
Change your password regularly – as a
general rule of thumb, changing your password every 90 days is recommended
Use a passphrase instead of a password –
a passphrase could be a lyric from a song or a favourite quote
Do not write your password down or store
it in an insecure manner –for example, writing it down on a post-it note
and keeping it on your desk
Avoid using the same password for multiple
accounts – it can have a chain effect allowing an attacker to gain access
to multiple systems.
